If you really want to see the variety of items listed in the WWII category of eBay look no further than uniforms. I searched through closed listings to find the top selling uniforms recently on eBay and came back with examples from several countries. The classic American bomber jackets showed up of course but so did neat dress uniforms as well. Click the link to see more about each of these great finds.

When you search through the Japan subcategory in WWII the top selling item is consistently the blades. From swords to bayonets these historical pieces fetch top dollar. Recently I dug through the closed listings on eBay to see just what were the top selling Japanese edged weapons. You might be surprised how high the bidding went on these auctions - click to find out.

Although it might not always seem like it the trend across time in the WWII category is pretty steady. To illustrate my point I've inserted a couple of graphs that show both the average number of sold items and the sales totals for the last year or so. What you can see is that there are just a few general trends. Sales in the category tended to dip around Christmas as collectors focused on buying things for others instead of filling their own wish lists. You can also see that during the summer months there is a bit of a lag which generally recovered in the fall. I'm sure the state of economy has something to do with these numbers as well.
The other graphs represent a 30-day snapshot of what the category did recently. The interesting spikes in the graph illustrate the fact that there is one particular day each week that seems to be the peak of auctions ending in the category. Anybody want to guess what day that is?
