The Usual Suspects Rule the Japanese Category

Sunday, June 13, 2010

OK, so if you were going to research eBay and write a blog about the best selling auctions in the Japanese subcategory what do you expect would make the Top-5 list for last week.  Hmm...you would probably guess 80% of the list would include the highly collectible blades and possibly a helmet or equipment piece might slip in the charts.  Well if that was your first guess then you were right.  I did that little research project and found five auctions that sold for over $1k in the category.  Click to see what they went for along with more pictures and the description.

So What Is A “Name” Worth?

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

One of the words that sellers love to use in their WWII listings is "named".  Whenever possible they slip this one in to indicate they can place the provenance of an item from the period.  So with this blog post I ask the question, what is a name worth?  I checked in to the sales on eBay from the last month to see just how much those five letters buy you on an eBay auction. Click on these listings and see if that adjective helped boost the bottom line.

Uncle Sam’s Favorite Auctions

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

The USA subcategory is the biggest in the WWII category on eBay and there are plenty of well-heeled bidders there spending money.  I pulled these auctions together which represent the top selling listings over the last couple of weeks.  The list is dominated by uniforms but perhaps the most interesting one is the special forces lot.

Best Selling WWII Auctions On eBay

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Its always interesting to just take a peak at what have been the top selling auctions over the last couple of weeks on eBay.  I was a little surprised only 1 Japanese sword made the list.  However, the most unusual item is an Eva Braun dress.  There have been several items auctioned recently that claim her provenance and they have done very well.
