Provenance Matters For Military Collectors
Today's Hot Finds has some great pieces of vintage military items with lots of history behind them. I hope you enjoy clicking through what I've found.
Those of you with eagle eyes will spot that the G1 leather flight jacket below is not technically a WWII era issue. The seller states that was owned by a WWII ace and this was the last jacket he wore in his service.
It is just fascinating to find a photo album listed on eBay where the seller includes all the pictures. It's like you get the joy of window shopping even if you have no interest in purchasing the album. Check out the nice album below to see dozens of neat pictures from a German soldier.
In this block I've got another book featured. This one doesn't include as many pictures but is a flight log from a British pilot during the 1944-46 time period.
We all know that including a little provenance helps sell an items in a military category. So I was impressed that the seller of the USMC dress coat was able to take a name written inside the garment and trace it on ancestry.com to the owner over 100 years later. Now that's cool!

CLOSING OUT THE WEEK WITH VINTAGE MILITARY PICKS ON EBAY
Maybe I'm not one of the only people that thinks it would be cool to go shopping one day wearing a vintage WWII A2 jacket. Talk about a conversation piece. I'm not sure you could pick up girls with it but just in case you have the same idea there is a nice size 44 jacket pictured in today's issue.
If you want one auction that is a don't miss in this block try out the German Division Jacket and Pants linked in today. It's got 42 bids and is over $1000 with time left.
Seems like in another recent issue I was talking about a camera. That one was Japanese but the one in this newsletter is a British model nicknamed the "Normandy". Its drawing some great bids.
You never know what people are get into a bidding war about. Below is what's described as a trench art brass Vickers Machine Gun Money Box. It looks like somebody wants that thing pretty bad. I've included a picture of it in the graphic for today above.

HAND PICKED AUCTIONS FROM THE LARGEST MILITARY CATEGORY ON EBAY 2/WEEK
I don't know if you are into refurbished items. I've kinda thought it was frowned upon although I'm sure plenty of collectors do it. Still the helmet pictured below sure does look pretty even if the paint isn't 70+ years old. You can find this refurbished helmet in today's issue.
A lot not to miss is the German medical listing which I have a picture of in the newsletter. So far is has over 30 bids and has crossed the $300 line with plenty of time to go before the gavel falls on that auction.
I imagine when you have a WWII item that has some crossover appeal you don't know where the heavy bidding is coming from. The Japanese camera in today's third block comes complete and is getting some much deserved attention from bidders on eBay.
Neat thing about the rifleman set in today's WWI block is that the web belt has 10 pouches for ammunition clips. I guess when they only had a limited number of bullets in a clip it took that many to be prepared.
