If you want a historical treat click on the POW grouping below that includes some pins made from melted cans during the Airman's internment. eBay doesn't allow you to list firearms but the signal core launcher caught my eye right away.

Just a great variety today in the German block with everything from a typewriter to some nice uniform pieces. Sadly in this category you see way too many disclaimers including the seller of that Iron Cross who practically begs eBay not to take it down.

I promise when I started off picking the live auctions for today's issue of the Hot Finds the theme of knives, bayonets and swords was not on my mind. This all comes together very organically based on what is getting bids and today as you can see in this part of the newsletter the edged weapons were winning the day.

It's not every issue that I can feature an auction in this WW1 block that is over $1k. Today the 247th Battalion Victoria & Haliburton Battalion cap badge is hitting that mark with 16 bids. It comes from the collection of a major Canadian collector that is being broken up and sold on eBay.

It seems like I've seen that mannequin before with the bomber jacket. I guess he doesn't come with the winning bid? I know of one seller that uses female models for that line of work but I prefer the old fashioned look.

Click on these links to some of the top selling German auctions in the category this week. A few of them may have ended by the time you get this newsletter in your inbox but then you can see what the bidders were willing to put out for them.

There are some good examples in this block of how this category represents pure history. Real living veterans now almost all passed were awarded these medals or handled these swords and equipment.

Although it's a smaller (if not older) cousin to WWII you can still find some interesting picks in this World War I block.

My father received full military honors at his funeral - something I had not personally witnessed before. You can imagine that when the bugler played TAPS it was a moment I'll never forget.

This block includes about a dozen of the top selling German items that are live on eBay right now. Some of these have 20+ bids and those are the auctions that are fun to watch.

A pair of commando knives leads off the block and it just gets better from there. All of these picks come from the smaller categories and serves as a round-up of the best of the rest for live auctions on eBay in the category.

Picks from WW1 are in this final block of the newsletter. Some interesting helmets and medals along with some neat paper items.

Click through these picks that are among the most popular items in the United States corner of WWII according to bidding from the collectors chasing these down.

Up next in this portion of the newsletter the spotlight turns to the German category. I spotted these live auctions that were percolating to the top some of them with dozens of bids.

This block has a wide variety of listings from all over the smaller categories. Several insignia pieces, medals and uniform parts that are getting lots of bids.

Checking in on the WWI category to get a snapshot of what auctions are getting the most bids over there. It's a much smaller category but still gets lots of action.

The United States block has some interesting things today including a propeller and nice groups from a Marine and other services.

German auctions on eBay this weekend include some nice uniforms and regulars like helmets and blades.

Checking in on the smaller subcategories such as Japan, Russia, the UK and Italy. With this format I just pull some of the best auctions off the top.

This block always features a quick run down items in the World War I category. There is a great variety of listings and I'm just scratching the surface.
