Every once in awhile I like to just do a flat out Top-5 post to show collectors where the big boys were spending their money. Last week these listings were sitting on top thanks to some unlikely action. For example the seller of this weeks' top item - the Soviet medal - was willing to discount the price by $1250 using the best offer feature to ring up a sale. Considering that it still sold for more than $5k don't feel to bad for him. Another Russian item on the list at #4 the dagger was likewise sold using best offer. This time the seller took an offer that was discounted a full $1500 to close the deal. As for the other listings in this blog post I say they are unlikely because all of them started bidding at $1 or less. I figure that they might have had a reserve but still starting the bidding at $1 is the way to get that eBay magic working for you. Click on the links to see how these great pieces ended up.

I don't know how many collectors out there are item specific as opposed to being nation specific. For example. when it comes to helmets are there collectors who collect helmets regardless of whether they are German, American or French? I would imagine that the answer is yes and no for helmets and likely other common examples of equipment and militaria from World War II. Well if you just collected helmets this blog post might be right up your alley. These five diverse helmets all sold on eBay last week for good money in competitive auctions. Click on the links to see how they did.

Every week I try to give you an update on the best items that have sold in the WWII category of eBay. Today's post is pretty straight forward - what were the five best items that sold? For starters you might not be surprised that a Japanese sword and a pair of binoculars hold down the top two spots. However, I think that things get a little more interesting the further you read down. Of the rest of the list two of them are kinda obscure airplane pieces. In this case it was the Zero that beat out the Mustang even though the nose cone did register a whopping 19 bids! Click to see where these top auctions finished.

Usually in the WWII Hot Finds I post listings that include the real gritty memorabilia that you usually think of with war. So while there is plenty of soldier gear on eBay sometimes you can miss some of the more interesting pieces that are a little unusual. Paper items like photographs, books, and mixed lots are also popular items that collectors chase down. I've got five examples below that are unique and worth a quick look. They all sold last week on eBay and went for a pretty good penny.

When you rank the categories of items in WWII on eBay you have to go down pretty far to get to Italy. However, don't let that ranking fool you. While this niche of military collectibles may lack quantity on the auction boards you can still find some high quality items worth a look. These five recently sold listings are evidence that there is still some keen interest in Italian pieces.
