You might think that in the Japanese WWII listings the top selling items are always swords and other blades. Not true! I did some research and found five highlight reel listings that sold recently on eBay that weren't forged of clean steel. Try guessing what these items sold for before clicking on the auction to find out.

Every one of the categories in WWII on eBay has its own character. When it comes to the Japanese subcategory the top selling items week after week are always swords and other "sharp" items. For that reason I wanted to change things up for this blog post and ask what are the non-sword items that sold for over $1500 in this category over the last thirty days. One pattern you can see is that all were competitive auctions.

The beauty of eBay is the old fashioned auction. The top 3 items in this list all started as auctions with the lowest one marked at a minimum bid of .99 cents. These top selling items rank the #1 - #5 auctions judged by final bidding. Some of them did see some nasty bidding wars. For example take the #2 item - the Samuri Sword. It was bid up to $3100 and was bid up another $1k in the last two seconds by a pair of snipers that rung in.

OK, so if you were going to research eBay and write a blog about the best selling auctions in the Japanese subcategory what do you expect would make the Top-5 list for last week. Hmm...you would probably guess 80% of the list would include the highly collectible blades and possibly a helmet or equipment piece might slip in the charts. Well if that was your first guess then you were right. I did that little research project and found five auctions that sold for over $1k in the category. Click to see what they went for along with more pictures and the description.

If you want to see the Top-5 recent sales in the Japanese category of WWII on eBay you know there are going to be some sharp auctions in there. In fact only one item made it in this list that wasn't a sword. These auctions were so good that none of them sold for less than $2,000.
