My favorite type of World War II memorabilia are patches and insignia. This post features four auctions that are worth a second look by any serious collectors. Its interesting that two of the listings include the adjective "Stunning" to describe them. Do you agree?

You can always tell how high the minimum bid was set in an auction by the number of bids that come in. That is one reason why in the World War II Hot Finds I always include the number of bids because it tells you a lot about what happened in the auction. Below I have five great auctions that closed recently on eBay in the Japan category of WWII. As you can see most of these were competitive auctions that saw multiple bids. You might want to click on either the text or image link to see that bidding pattern. Its very possible that a sniper bid took home the prize.

Some times even folks like me who watch eBay pretty often can come across items that they don't know much about. Luckily with a few clicks of the mouse you can research items and figure out what you've got. That happened to me when I came across the acronym SAARF. So what does it stand for?
In February 1945, when the defeat of Germany appeared imminent, the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) was provided with a mandate for dispatching troops whose mission would be to secure the safety of Allied Prisoners Of War and to provide for their early evacuation. As a result of its mandate, SHAEF created, in March 1945, The Special Allied Airborne Reconnaissance Force, or SAARF.
Now that you've had your history lesson enjoy checking out the results from these top selling items in the USA category of WWII on eBay.
