Italian World War II Uniforms on eBay

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

When I'm following the WWII category of eBay I confess that I'm mostly watching the USA category.  When I'm tempted to drift I spend time looking at German, Japanese or Russian items.  Rarely do I click over to see what's selling from Italy but when I did recently I was pleasantly surprised.  These five Italian uniforms were competitive auctions that did very well on eBay.  Click on these links to see what they ended at.

Do You Collect All World War II Helmets?

Monday, September 19, 2011

I don't know how many collectors out there are item specific as opposed to being nation specific. For example. when it comes to helmets are there collectors who collect helmets regardless of whether they are German, American or French?  I would imagine that the answer is yes and no for helmets and likely other common examples of equipment and militaria from World War II.  Well if you just collected helmets this blog post might be right up your alley.  These five diverse helmets all sold on eBay last week for good money in competitive auctions.  Click on the links to see how they did.

United States WWII Auctions Trigger Bidding Wars on eBay

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Its a little ironic when antiques from a war trigger a real war (among bidders).  But that' s just what happened with these five auctions that sold last week on eBay.  In each example more than 35 bids came in by the time the gavel fell.  Now typically, you see this when the auction comes down to just two characters bidding against each other in increments of $10-$20 trying to top each other out.  However, it does look like an impressive tally when you see what kinds of results these tit-for-tat bidding patterns can bring.  Click on these listings and if you want on the "bid history" to see what happened in each case.

Top Five World War II Auctions on eBay

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Every week I try to give you an update on the best items that have sold in the WWII category of eBay.  Today's post is pretty straight forward - what were the five best items that sold?  For starters you might not be surprised that a Japanese sword and a pair of binoculars hold down the top two spots.  However, I think that things get a little more interesting the further you read down.  Of the rest of the list two of them are kinda obscure airplane pieces.  In this case it was the Zero that beat out the Mustang even though the nose cone did register a whopping 19 bids!  Click to see where these top auctions finished.

World War II Photos, Scrabooks and a Famous Kiss

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Usually in the WWII Hot Finds I post listings that include the real gritty memorabilia that you usually think of with war.  So while there is plenty of soldier gear on eBay sometimes you can miss some of the more interesting pieces that are a little unusual.  Paper items like photographs, books, and mixed lots are also popular items that collectors chase down.  I've got five examples below that are unique and worth a quick look.  They all sold last week on eBay and went for a pretty good penny.
