Only one of these listings was what could call a classic auction. The auction for the Paratrooper airborne helmet started out at $50 minimum bid and after twenty bids sold for more than $1k. Three of these top 5 listings sold as buy-it-now items. The #1 fighting knife and #5 paratrooper helmet sold for about 20% less than the original asking price thanks to the best offer option.

One of the nice things about checking back on the best sold items in the British subcategory of WWII on eBay is that there is a real variety to the top pieces. Instead of being dominated by grey helmets, swords, or medals with sickles on them in this niche of the collectibles market there are a nice mix of really neat stuff. The five that I turned up today are good examples.

Although compared to the other categories in WWII on eBay Great Britain doesn't stand tall that same can't be said for these Top-5 listings from that niche. What's interesting is that these listings came out on top despite very little bidding activity. Where are the 20 or more bids that you normally see in the category on top auctions? Perhaps the sellers used the strategy of utilizing a high minimum bid looking for the only bid they needed.

Its been a while since I checked in on the Great Britain subcategory to see what's been selling there. All of the items here sold for over $800 and all but one were competitive auctions. The thing that has me scratching my head is the calvary helmet. The seller has it on a buy-it-now with seven more available. At over $1500 each that is some serious inventory!
