Take a look in today's issue to see auctions that are getting bids and gaining watchers. I hope that a few of these are surprises to you.
I just got a frantic call from a woman in SW Florida. Her friend rescued a briefcase of Boy Scout memorabilia out of the dumpster and she was really in a tizzy thinking she had found some gold. Of course the items she found were not nearly as exciting to a collector but I coached her up on what she had and suggested that she sell it locally on FB Marketplace.
I got so busy yesterday that I didn't get the issue published. But as I often due here is a "catch up" issue so I can keep the readers on top of the latest military auctions that are getting bids in the category.
At my antique mall I have a giant tub of $1 scout patches for sale. These are ones that I get in collections which I don't think are really worth the time in effort to sell on eBay. Sunday I got a call from the mall saying that a customer wanted to buy the entire tub and asked for my price. So I boldly said $1000 and that was my best price. I was shocked when they called back 10 minutes later to tell me the person bought the tub! So today i am going back out to the mall to restock because of course I have thousands more dollar patches ready to go. Oh the adventures of reselling never end.
Thursday morning and the Hot Finds is right on schedule. Check out these auctions in the big WWII category of eBay that are ending soon.
Today I'm driving to meet someone to buy a collection. This guy is relocating to South Carolina and building a house as a retirement destination. He is getting up there in years and having served in the military has not been connected to Scouting for some time. These are the kind of collections that I love to put back into circulation.
True story! This weekend my wife found a bag of old Scout patches that I have been looking for over the past month. Our COVID kitten had dragged the bag behind my daughter's bed into his lair. Literally this is like $500 worth of 1950s issues that literally the cat burglar had run off with!
