My favorite type of World War II memorabilia are patches and insignia. This post features four auctions that are worth a second look by any serious collectors. Its interesting that two of the listings include the adjective "Stunning" to describe them. Do you agree?

Some times even folks like me who watch eBay pretty often can come across items that they don't know much about. Luckily with a few clicks of the mouse you can research items and figure out what you've got. That happened to me when I came across the acronym SAARF. So what does it stand for?
In February 1945, when the defeat of Germany appeared imminent, the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) was provided with a mandate for dispatching troops whose mission would be to secure the safety of Allied Prisoners Of War and to provide for their early evacuation. As a result of its mandate, SHAEF created, in March 1945, The Special Allied Airborne Reconnaissance Force, or SAARF.
Now that you've had your history lesson enjoy checking out the results from these top selling items in the USA category of WWII on eBay.

Every week I publish a collector's newsletter that focuses on great auctions in the World War II category of eBay. As I write the newsletter I'm catching the auctions with days left for buyers to chip in more bids. However, when all the bids are in some of the Hot Finds picks turn out to be REALLY special. These five listings were among the top sellers in the category last week and some of them were featured in the WWII Hot Finds. If you are not already receiving my weekly eBay newsletter be sure to subscribe in the sign-up box in the top right hand corner of the website.

The biggest, baddest subcategory in all of WWII is of course the United States. With thousands of items available this niche of the market is the leader of the pack. So what are the best auctions to close in that neck of eBay? I've got you covered with these five top picks. I choose these because they were the most interesting. I left out an engine motor that while valuable didn't have the appeal of these choices. See if you can guess where they finished up before clicking the link and find out what the selling price was when the gavel fell.

I am a bit of a patch hound so I have a keen interest in WWII insignia and particularly USA items. While I did have the highest selling item as a big lot the rest of these great auctions were single patches. They all went for hundreds of dollars in listings that sometimes only needed a single bid to make it on this list.
