The Top 5 listings from the Russia subcategory of WWII on eBay feature highly competitive auctions. The bidding magic that these listings got going was thanks to their low starting price. Would you believe that all of these auctions sold for more than $2k while starting at less than $10. The auctions garnered more than 30 bids which is also a really high number. Click the links to see these listings close up.

The #1 selling item in the last week on eBay was the lead off auction here. Would you believe it sold for more than nine thousand dollars? The rest of these listings didn't come close to that but they all went for four figures nonetheless.

How confident does a seller have to be to start a group of very nice WWII collectibles at .99? Well in the case of the 5 Top selling auctions in the Russian subcategory that is exactly what happened in three cases. The top selling item is explained in the description by the seller, "Highest national decoration of the Soviet Union. Established 6 April 1930. Awarded to civilians for outstanding services rendered to the State, to members of the armed forces for exemplary service, and to recipients of the titles of Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of Socialist Labor. Also awarded to factories, cities, regions, and republics. Originally, this award was very highly regarded."

If you are doing a Top-5 list for recent Russian auctions in the WWII category then you know its going to be heavy with medals. Two of these auctions began as $.99 including the best selling auction in this group. Another pair sold as BIN listings with just a single buyer deciding to drop big bucks on each of those medals. I'm still not sure if I had a rare medal I would put it up for bids with no reserve starting at less than $1 but I guess some sellers like to live life in the fast lane!

Its not every day that ANYTHING in the WWII category of eBay sells for $15 grand but when it comes to impressive collections of Russian medals the auctions gods have been smiling. The #2 selling item on this blog post sold for significantly less but with 22 bids it demonstrates that documentation counts for a lot with collectors. You will enjoy reading the history lesson provided in the description for the Order of Nevsky medal. If you are going to do a blog post about Russian medals you have to include an Order of Lenin as it's the highest honor that the USSR bestowed. I round out this Top-5 list with an Admiral Ushakov medal. All together each of these auctions went for over $1,000+ in eBay bidding over the last few weeks.
