Everyone collects interesting subsets in military items. Some are helmet collectors and others prefer knives. So today I've got a post that gives you the best five items in the Italian subcategory of ebay. Among these big hitters are members of each of those categories.

In this blog its rare that I venture out to look at some of the more obscure corners of the category so whereas I normally stick with the meat and potatoes of WWII on eBay I decided to venture out into some of the more exotic countries. Each of these listings sold recently on eBay and did very well. Click the links to see them in closer detail and see what happened with the bidding.

Now this is a fun and easy blog post to write. Sit back and just roll out what were the top 5 overall listings that sold last week on eBay. I actually mentioned the Stalin signature in a recent email. What's interesting about that auction besides the sales price (in multiple $thousands) but the content is a playful letter with his daughter. While this listing and the P-51 only got a single bidder the other three auctions included here were very competitive. Just take a close look at the neat group of papers and maps for a historical treat.

Every once in awhile I like to just do a flat out Top-5 post to show collectors where the big boys were spending their money. Last week these listings were sitting on top thanks to some unlikely action. For example the seller of this weeks' top item - the Soviet medal - was willing to discount the price by $1250 using the best offer feature to ring up a sale. Considering that it still sold for more than $5k don't feel to bad for him. Another Russian item on the list at #4 the dagger was likewise sold using best offer. This time the seller took an offer that was discounted a full $1500 to close the deal. As for the other listings in this blog post I say they are unlikely because all of them started bidding at $1 or less. I figure that they might have had a reserve but still starting the bidding at $1 is the way to get that eBay magic working for you. Click on the links to see how these great pieces ended up.

Every week I try to give you an update on the best items that have sold in the WWII category of eBay. Today's post is pretty straight forward - what were the five best items that sold? For starters you might not be surprised that a Japanese sword and a pair of binoculars hold down the top two spots. However, I think that things get a little more interesting the further you read down. Of the rest of the list two of them are kinda obscure airplane pieces. In this case it was the Zero that beat out the Mustang even though the nose cone did register a whopping 19 bids! Click to see where these top auctions finished.
