In a recent blog post I said that German collectors really favor helmets. So in my newest post focused on those collectors I tried to stretch the boundaries and go for some top selling auctions that were not meant to be worn on your head. Of these the only one that I don't remember seeing anything similar to on eBay before is the Luftwaffe survival pack. Perhaps that explains why it got more bids than these other listings except for the 2nd pair of binoculars that got 24 bids.

Its always the case in the Russian / Soviet subcategory of World War Two on eBay that medals rule. Each of the areas that collectors specialize in have their big boys. With Japanese collectors its often swords that bring the big money. For German collectors helmets seem to be a particularly good focus. When it comes to Russia its all about the shiny medals and their documentation. These are some recently finished auctions on eBay that have eye popping sales. Click the link to see them up close.

One of the really fun things to try and sneak up and find on eBay is a great mixed lot that has lots of poorly photographed items with tremendous value. That's why when you look at the bidding pattern in a few of these auctions you will see that a lot of people had the same idea. Its easy to see why these type of listings end up on eBay all the time now. You have a whole nation of people going to estate sales, storage shed auctions and the like. When they get these groupings in an old footlocker they don't have that proprietary knowledge that a deal has. So they lump in one lot and throw themselves at the mercy of the bidding audience. Click on these links and see how you think they did.
