WWII_jan_19

I am a day late but hopefully not a dollar short in serving up this issue of the WWII Hot Finds. Every once in a while technical difficulties and holidays can interfere with getting an issue out on time. Yesterday we took the Girl Scout troop to an indoor climbing wall since it was a holiday. So instead of building a newsletter late in the evening I thought I start fresh with Tuesday morning. Have fun!

I have a rather distant connection to the nice lot pictured below. It's from a fellow who was a gunner in a PBY in the Pacific. Turns out my wife's grandfather flew a PBY in the Philippines theater during the war. I can imagine him having some of the same gear notes in his flight book.

Selling firearms on eBay is foreboden so what the seller below is doing really reminds me of the old Johny Cash song. He is selling a Luger "one piece at a time" just like the Cadillac that the man in black was talking about in his song.

The Japanese bayonet below is kinda odd if you ask me. Looks like maybe the handle is broken off but maybe that's how they came?

As you can tell in this issue there are lots of knives, daggers and other pointy objects. Those seem to always be popular with the readers so I try to stick them in the newsletter when I can.

I hope you are looking forward to a great week. I'll have my regular issue out on Thursday and get back on schedule.

I have this issue out earlier in the day than normal. I'm about to leave town in the next couple hours so maybe I can make this a habit. Getting the newsletter earlier gives you more time to explore what's hot in the biggest military category on eBay.

I've got some cool insignia in this block to start off this issue. I can't recall the last time if ever that I've had a 17th Army Airborne patch. Lot's of Screaming Eagles make their way into the Hot Finds but not this unit. Would you call the other outfit the Devil's Donkeys or what? 🙂

Easily the coolest item in this German block is the Luftwaffe uniform jacket. The sellers seems to do a good job talking up this piece and his photos are excellent.

The RAF flight suit sure does use zippers to a degree you don't see in a lot of WWII era pieces. I guess during the Battle of Britain you had to be able to get into this suit quick!

Check out the WWI block for a snapshot of the best selling live auctions covering the first war of the 20th century.

I am off to a memorabilia show in the upstate of South Carolina this weekend. I hope you have great plans for the weekend as well.

Monday WWII Hot Finds Newsletter January 12, 2015

Welcome to another edition of the WWII Hot Finds where I search the biggest military category on eBay and serve up the results alive and kicking just before the close!

It will only cost you $62 to have the life raft listed below shipped to you. Of course that is assuming you want to get into the bidding which is approaching $700 as the auction nears completion.

I usually get into trouble when I include watches being sold out of Eastern Europe in the newsletter. One of these is from the Ukraine and the other Latvia so I'll give them a go today and see what happens.

The RAF goggles below have some wear and tear but you might too if you were 75 years old.

The nice WWI era print listed below is one that I don't remember seeing before. I usually prefer something a little more menacing for a war print but it is a nice change of pace.

I am back down to Florence, SC this Tuesday to keep working on my antique booth. I'm going to spend an entire day there so I hope I can knock it out!
